Cosied in a basement, the restaurant is full of atmosphere and character, where candlelight warms the natural stone walls and the finest of Edinburgh’s fine food is served. In fact, the restaurant has been awarded two AA Rosettes, and has been voted in the Sexiest 20 Restaurants by The Times. Sounds like a winner to us!

Café Voices – Love Springs Eternal: Scottish Storytelling Centre – Thursday 14th Feb

For something a wee bit different, celebrate with your significant other by joining guest storyteller Claire Hewitt for an evening of loving stories – love shows itself in all forms, sometimes when we’re least expecting it…

Café Voices is the Centre’s monthly storytelling session, with an open-floor section for storytellers to tell their own tales, all in the relaxed surroundings of the Storytelling Court.

Valentine’s Recital by candlelight – Friday 15th February

If you’re truly looking to woo that someone special or score off-the-chart Brownie points for romance, then this candlelit piano recital is for you. The venue is the historic, atmospheric St. Giles Cathedral; the mood will be set by glowing candlelight; the evening’s performance a recital by acclaimed pianist Daniel Grimwood. Featuring beautiful pieces, full of emotion, including Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, this is one Valentine’s you won’t forget in a hurry.

A coastal adventure – explore Cramond Island

Forget Love Island – Cramond Island is perfect for a day’s exploring, whether it’s a trip for one, two or a whole group of you. There are loads of great walks in and around Edinburgh, but adventuring out across the tidal causeway gets our vote. If you’d prefer to avoid the smug, gooey behaviour that Valentine’s Day can bring out even in the best of couples, then this is the place for you – The Stand’s Comedy Club features Rachel Fairburn, Keir McAllister, Robin Grainger and Wayne Mazadza.
