A number of festivals take place each summer in Edinburgh. The busiest month is August when Edinburgh becomes host to The Fringe, the biggest annual arts and comedy festival in the world, with people coming from all over the globe to participate in and visit the large number of shows on offer.
During August the population of Edinburgh doubles and all those people need somewhere to stay! It is therefore advisable to book your accommodation early. Please have a look at our properties page for Edinburgh Festival flats and Edinburgh Fringe accommodation.
Festival programs are not released until very close to the start of the festivals but with so much going on, you will not struggle to find something to see.
August in Edinburgh can only be matched by the Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations that take place in December. At Christmas Edinburgh becomes a winter wonderland with a fun fair, ice-skating rink and German market. The New Year is celebrated in style with a large street party, concert in Princes Street gardens and an impressive firework display.
